Synthetic & Treated Gem Identification (E301)
Learn how to tell the difference between natural and synthetic gems. This course takes an in-depth look at the synthetic gems and their manufacturing processes. Extensive class time is devoted to studying gem inclusions that confirms a gemstone as synthetic.
A large collection of over 1,000 rough and cut stones offer students a rare opportunity to examine all the major synthetic and treated gem varieties found in the market. Practical experience in the gem industry would help in the understanding of the course material.
*Pre-requisite E102 Gem Identification, or equivalent; or prior gemological knowledge.
