Introduction to Gems & Gemology (E101)
A basic introduction to major gemstones commonly found in the marketplace. This beginning-level course stresses the important aspects of such gems as ruby, sapphire, jade, emerald, etc.
Lectures cover gem varieties, major sourses, gem properties and practical buying tips.
This course is ideal for those who wish to learn fascinating facts about major stones popular in the market. The course will also give an overview of the study of gemology starting from gem sources and the origin of gemstones to basic properties that affect market value and pricing. Interesting aspects for gem enthusiasts are tips on judging quality, buying gems and jewelry in the Thai market, care of jewelry plus synthetics and imitations to watch out for in the gem market.
